What ChatGPT, Gemini & Perplexity say about Tempe real estate agents
When a buyer types "who are the best real estate agents in Tempe?" into ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity, which agents get named? We asked all three platforms directly in July 2026 and recorded every agent each one returned. Tempe showed the strongest agreement between platforms of any market we've studied so far — six agents made all three lists, versus three in Phoenix and two in Scottsdale.

Which Tempe agents did AI name?
Six agents — Randy Courtney, Carin Nguyen, Kenny Klaus, Nick Bastian, Kim Panozzo, and Carol Royse — were named by all three platforms. Two of them are repeat names from our other research: Carin Nguyen also appeared in Phoenix, and Kim Panozzo has appeared in the top tier of three of the four cities we've studied so far — Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Tempe. Below is every agent we recorded who was named by two or more platforms.
| # | Agent | Named By | Platform Count |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Randy Courtney | ChatGPT Gemini Perplexity | 3 |
| 2 | Carin Nguyen | ChatGPT Gemini Perplexity | 3 |
| 3 | Kenny Klaus (The Klaus Team) | ChatGPT Gemini Perplexity | 3 |
| 4 | Nick Bastian | ChatGPT Gemini Perplexity | 3 |
| 5 | Kim Panozzo | ChatGPT Gemini Perplexity | 3 |
| 6 | Carol Royse (Carol Royse Team) | ChatGPT Gemini Perplexity | 3 |
| 7 | Pamm Seago-Peterlin | ChatGPT Perplexity | 2 |
| 8 | Katie Walsh (The Walsh Team) | ChatGPT Perplexity | 2 |
| 9 | Bill Olmstead (Olmstead Team) | ChatGPT Perplexity | 2 |
| 10 | Henry Wang | Gemini Perplexity | 2 |
Four more agents were named by exactly two platforms (Dave Zajdzinski, Steve Castle, Alisha Anderson, and Don Matheson — who also appeared in our Scottsdale research), and 68 more by exactly one platform, mostly ChatGPT alone.
At the time this page was published, Tempe had the strongest cross-platform agreement we'd seen — 6 of 82 named agents (about 7%) made all three lists, compared to roughly 2% in Phoenix and 12.5% in the much smaller Scottsdale market. Kim Panozzo was the only agent to appear in the top tier of all three cities studied at that point (see our Paradise Valley research for how the pattern developed next).
Platform-by-platform breakdown
Same pattern as Phoenix and Scottsdale: ChatGPT returns by far the longest list, Gemini the shortest and most selective, and Perplexity lands in between. What's different in Tempe is that a meaningfully larger share of Gemini's and Perplexity's shorter lists overlap with ChatGPT's longer one — which is why the all-three-platform tier is bigger here despite the overall market being smaller than Phoenix.
This reflects a single research pass conducted in July 2026, where we asked ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity directly for real estate agent recommendations in Tempe, AZ, and recorded every name each platform returned. It is a point-in-time snapshot, not a continuously updated feed.
Three entries returned by the platforms were excluded from our counts as clearly not real names — "YouTube Video," "Reddit Recommendation," and "Home Buyers" appear to be response section labels misread as agent names by our extraction process, the same known limitation noted on our Phoenix page.
We also noticed "Katie Walsh" (named by ChatGPT and Perplexity, shown in the table above) and "Katherine Walsh" (named by ChatGPT only, in the one-platform tail) are likely the same person cited under two name variants. We've reported them as returned rather than merge them without confirmation.
Every agent shown in the table above was independently verified as a real, active real estate professional or team in the greater Phoenix/East Valley area.

Why AI recommendations matter for Tempe agents
Buyers are increasingly starting their agent search by asking AI rather than typing into Google. In a market where six agents already cleared the bar on all three platforms, the gap between "known to AI" and "confidently recommended by AI" is smaller than in a market like Phoenix — which makes it more important, not less, to build the identity consistency and review depth that separate the top tier from everyone else named only once.

Frequently asked questions
Is this list complete?
No. This reflects only the agents named in response to the specific prompts we ran across three platforms during one research pass in July 2026. Tempe has many more licensed agents than the 82 we recorded — most simply weren't named by any platform when we asked. Absence from this list doesn't mean an agent has no AI visibility at all; it means they weren't surfaced by these particular queries at this particular time.
Why did more agents overlap across platforms in Tempe than in Phoenix or Scottsdale?
Six agents were named by all three platforms in Tempe, compared to three in Phoenix and two in Scottsdale — the strongest cross-platform agreement we've seen so far. Tempe is a smaller, more specific market than Phoenix, which may make it easier for all three platforms to converge on the same well-established names rather than each surfacing a different long tail.
How often does AI change which Tempe agents it names?
AI recommendations are not static. ChatGPT and Perplexity both use live web search, meaning their answers reflect current online information. An agent who builds new reviews, earns media coverage, or improves their directory presence can move up in AI recommendations over time. We plan to re-run this research periodically as AI platforms and agents' online presence evolve.
What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)?
GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization — the practice of building your online presence so that AI systems can confidently identify, describe, and recommend you. It's the AI equivalent of SEO. For Tempe real estate agents, GEO means ensuring that your name, city, specialties, and reputation signals are clear and consistent across every platform AI systems reference.
Can any Tempe agent improve their AI visibility?
Yes. AI visibility is not determined by seniority or transaction volume — it's determined by the quality and consistency of your public online signals. Agents who start working on GEO now have a meaningful first-mover advantage, since most agents in this market have no AI visibility strategy at all.
